2. Update for this Saturday, January 10th Sketch out at the CBS Conservatory and Botanical collection:
If
you are coming for the sketch out at the CBS Conservatory on Saturday,
Dr. Jennifer Powers has shared a map and additional parking (free) is
available in Lot S 108 (same as for Ice Castles). There will be a
sandwich board set up outside the Conservatory door. Contact her (651-968-7773) if you can't get in. See the post here for more event info.
3. Join
us for a Coffee Sketch at Mia (Minneapolis Institute of Art)
When: Thursday, January 15th, 10am-12noon
Where: 2400 3rd Ave. S., Minneapolis MN
Only pencil is allowed in the
galleries. But you can do watercolor in the cafe. This is a perennial
winter favorite place to sketch. We’ll likely be back a few times
until winter loses its grip! Paid parking in ramp is available as well
as free street parking.
Meet on the first floor at the large window looking out over downtown Minneapolis, just past the cafe.
Throw-down will be at 11:45 on hallway tables a few steps from where we meet.
Hope to see you there!
4. Coffee Sketch at Sumner Library
When: Wednesday, January 21, 12-2pm
Where: Minneapolis City Offices Community Libraries
611Van White Memorial Blvd, Minneapolis MN
Note! This sketch starts at NOON. Throw-down will be at 1:45 p.m.
Pencil, pen and watercolor welcomed.
Sketcher @JoelAbramson will be hosting this as part of our series on sketching the Carnegie Libraries of Hennepin County.
This
Carnegie-funded library opened in 1915. It is named for Charles Sumner,
a U.S. Senator from Massachusetts and an outspoken abolitionist. The
library has received historic designation from the City of Minneapolis
Heritage Preservation Commission and is listed on the National Register
of Historic Places. A 2004-05 renovation refurbished or reclaimed many
historical building features. Before 1915, the library was located in a
rented room at 901 6th Avenue North.
If
you went to our December sketch at the Linden Hills Library (not a
Carnegie but on the registry of historic places) you know how peaceful
it is to sketch in these beautiful historic community gathering places.
