October Sketch Events: Fort Snelling, Lakewood Cemetary, Pierre Bottineau Library, and More!

Mark your calendars for our October events coming soon:
1. Draw/Paint At Historic Fort Snelling
When: Saturday, October 3rd, 8:30-4pm (see schedule below)
Where: 25 Fort Snelling, St. Paul MN 55111
Details: Our group has been invited by Katie MacLaughlin at Fort Snelling to come join Outdoor Painters of MN and sketch at Fort Snelling on Oct. 3rd too! NOTE: For USk TC participants, this is a "show-up at your leisure" event during the schedule listed below-- no USK TC admins are hosting and no throw down. There are also admission charges which you can find here: https://www.mnhs.org/fortsnelling . We'd love to see your sketches, so post on our Facebook page at your convenience.
In
collaboration with the Outdoor Painters of Minnesota, but any artists
are invited to attend and participate. Gates open at 10am. There will be
many fort staff dressed in a variety of costumes.

Visitors to the fort will have a chance to see painters at work studying various landscapes, architecture, and objects.
PAINT-OUT SCHEDULE
8:30
am - Painters may arrive to begin painting. Painters can paint outside
the Historic Fort walls at this time (landscape, historic walls, prairie
grasses and plants, etc).
10:00
am - Fort opens to the public, the front gate opens, and costumed staff
arrive. Painters may enter the fort. We will also display a cannon and
other props to feature in your painting.
3:00-4:00
pm - We will have a spot to display art in the Historic Fort. OPM will
bring tabletop easels. Painters must exit the Fort by 4:00 pm when it
closes to the public.
At
the paint-out, a small table with painting supplies will be set out for
visitors who want to try their hand at painting. No painting is allowed
within the historic buildings.

Remember one stipulation of sketching here is that specific monument drawings are not be used for commercial purposes, as the monuments themselves are the properties of families and individuals. The mausoleums ARE open, and are not only equipped with restrooms, but are extraordinary spaces themselves, with fully furnished reception areas.
***Please note: bicycles are NOT allowed in the cemetery.***
Those who live far away or can't make it that day are encouraged to visit a historic cemetery near you and share your drawings with us!
Dogs and other pets are not allowed anywhere onsite at Lakewood. Service animals are permitted.

The
Pierre Bottineau Library is located in northeast Minneapolis. It is
named for Pierre Bottineau (1817-95), a prominent trapper and trader who
settled in the area. The library is constructed from two historic
buildings on the former Grain Belt campus — the 1893 Wagon Shed and the
1913 Millright Shop. Project architects combined the buildings in 2003
with a state-of-the-art addition to create a new 12,000-square-foot
library. Various library locations in the community served area
