Urban Sketchers Twin Cities is thrilled to have Chicago artist Jenny Jing Zhang, Keynote Speaker for Watermark Sketch Minneapolis 2026, teach a workshop on bending perspective while she is in town Sunday, September 27th, 2026. ABOUT THE EVENT:

Perspective doesn't always have to follow the rules. In this workshop, we'll explore playful ways to bend, stretch, and exaggerate perspective to create urban sketches that feel more dynamic, personal, and expressive.

Using the layered architecture and open space of Riverplace as our subject, we'll look beyond traditional one- and two-point perspective and experiment with curved viewpoints, shifting vanishing points, and intentionally distorted forms. We'll explore how a wide scene can wrap around the page, how buildings can lean and expand to strengthen a composition, and how foreground and background elements can work together to create a strong sense of depth.
