1. Sketch the Eidem Living History Farm

Join Urban Sketchers Twin Cities for a day of sketching on a living-history farm just north of 694 in Brooklyn Park. Admission is FREE.

The Eidem Farm is a 19-acre time machine back to the turn of the 20th century, when Brooklyn Park was among the top potato farming regions in the U.S. Deeded to the City of Brooklyn Park in 1970, the farm operates as a living-history museum to show what farming life was like and hosts programs for school children, community events, musical presentations, celebrations, and private events.

Sketchers will find a variety of scenes to capture on their visit, from structures to nature scenes. Artists who enjoy architecture will be able to see both interiors and exteriors of the well-preserved Victorian house, outbuildings, barns, equipment, and nature lovers will appreciate sketching sights in the gardens, along the walking paths, and the farm animals.

Time: 11:00 Meet and Greet Urban Sketchers hosts near the entrance. The farm will open at 10 am, so come early if you'd like and find the group near the entrance at 11.

Throwdown: Meet up again at 1:45 to share sketches and take a group photo.

Food and Beverage: There is no concession on the farm, but food trucks are present on many Saturdays during the summertime at the farm. Check the webpage for more information on the day of the sketch-out.

2. Coffee Sketch in lovely downtown Northfield, Minnesota
When: Thursday, August 27th, 10-Noon
Host: Vanessa Bodrie
Details: Let’s meet outside the main entrance to the Northfield Public Library (at 210 Washington Street) at 10am. If the weather is good, we will have our throw-down outdoors of the library at 11:45am. In case of inclement weather, we can meet indoors in the library atrium. We are also welcome to sketch indoors at the library and would be welcome in small groups in the various coffee shops along Division St.
On-street parking is available in the neighborhood east of the library. There is a two-hour parking limit on Division St. and within one block of Division St. so please be mindful of this if you choose to park in that zone.
Public restrooms and a water fountain are available at the library.
Outdoor public seating can be found on Bridge Square, along the riverwalk, and in front of the Northfield Arts Guild.
Quite a few coffee shops and cafes have outdoor seating as well. Little Joy Coffee has a great deck and patio out back overlooking the river.
Points of interest may include:
• Bridge Square (and the popcorn wagon!)
• Downtown Post Office (with a folk-art mural inside)
• Historic Ames Mill and Dam
Additionally, we have a bakery (Bread People), a bookstore (Content), a yarn shop (Northfield Yarn), and an art store (The Sketchy Artist)!
