READY-SET-GO! Coffee Sketch the Raspberry Festival Kid’s Fishing Event at Shady Oak Beach


Meet UrbanSketchers Twin Cities for the first event of our 4-day Raspberry Festival Sketchfest at this beautiful lake setting on a summer morning to watch kids catch fish or simply catch some rays.


We’ll meet near the outdoor picnic pavilion adjacent to the parking lot at 9. (Don’t worry if you can’t get there that early, just find another sketcher and settle in when you arrive.) Throw-down and group photo near the picnic pavilion at 11:30 CDT


MEETING POINT: Shady Oak Beach picnic pavilion near the main parking lot.

BRING your preferred sketching tools, loose paper (optional), a small stool could be helpful at this location but there are some picnic tables and benches, also, consider a hat & sunscreen depending on the weather.


REMEMBER, work on loose paper if you want to submit your Raspberry Festival sketches for the public exhibition at Hopkins Center for the Arts on Saturday, July 19th. Urban Sketchers Twin Cities will have release forms and ID tags for your artwork, and even take them to the Hopkins Center for the Arts for you after the event.


ALSO, if you can’t make this event you can sketch on your own time.  Submit your Raspberry Festival sketches for the public exhibition directly to the Hopkins Center for the Arts security desk by 11 am on Saturday, July 19th. They’ll have release forms and ID tags for your artwork there.


WALKING DISTANCE: Minimal walking from parking lot to fishing bridge.

SIP & SKETCH at Bear Cave Brewing.


Day 2 of Raspberry Festival SketchFest! Sketch anywhere that inspires you on Hopkins historic Mainstreet between 8th and 11th Avenues. This district is listed on the National Register of Historic Places to recognize the area's historical significance in American history, architecture, and culture.


The evening concludes with a throw down on the rooftop of Bear Cave Brewing , Hopkin’s űber-cool brew pub on Mainstreet featuring 4 floors with 52 self-pulled beer/beverage taps, an underground speakeasy, rooftop perch and ground floor patio. 


If you’re not up for outside sketching on Mainstreet, sketch inside the Bear Cave (rumor has it they’ll be eyeing those sketches for a special purpose) or sketch some of both and come back to the Bear Cave rooftop for refreshments at 8:30 for a throwdown.

IT’S THE MAIN EVENT for Raspberry Festival SketchFest 2025. 


Sketch Demo by Kar-Keat Chong, Sketch-walk & Sketcher’s Reception at Hopkins Center for the Arts.


Kar-Keat Chong will demonstrate his artful sketching techniques at Hopkin’s iconic Clocktower from 6 to 7. Then, UrbanSketchers will lead a sketch walk featuring the Raspberry Royal Court and Classic Cars on Hopkins Artery between 7 - 8:15. Immediately following, sketchers are invited to a throw-down and catered reception at Hopkins Center for the Arts to cap the evening.


Clock Town by 6 pm CDT. Throw-down at Hopkins Center for the Arts starts at 8:30 CDT.

The exhibition opens at 1pm and closes at 4pm on Saturday.
