Hello Urban Sketchers Twin Cities---
Join us for our February Sketch Out at Bloomington Ice Garden Skating Rinks!
When: Sunday, February 23rd, 12-3pm
Where: 3600 W 98th St., Bloomington MN 55431
Details: The
city of Bloomington has three indoor ice rinks in this facility, a
snack cafe (pizza, hotdogs and churros), free parking and restrooms.
Temperatures
near the ice are a chilly 60- degrees F. All rinks have stadium
seating and the metal bleachers are cold to sit on.
Two
rinks have mezzanine viewing at indoor temperatures. There are no
seats in the mezzanine, but you can sketch at the rail or bring a stool.
Recommended to wear long-johns, warm clothing and a blanket for your
bum if you sit in the bleachers. All materials welcome.
Note:
It can be quite busy and loud at the rinks. There is also a room-temp
seating area in the hall adjacent to the rinks. There are tables and
chairs there and a view of the wetlands. Car-pooling suggested in case
the big lot is near capacity.
FYI, we tried to make arrangements with Asia Mall for the February sketch, but it didn’t work for them. Another time.
Finally, what a great opportunity to practice gesture drawing at the rinks! Just like Degas and his ballerinas. All the best, Lori
