Get Set For Upcoming Asia Mall (11/18) and Fort Snelling State Park (11/28) Sketchouts

 

Hello Urban Sketchers Twin Cities! 

Join Lori Tolonen and Heather Hultgren at the Asia Mall in Eden Prairie for our November Sketch Meet. 

 

When: Saturday, November 18, at 12-3 PM
Where: 12160 Technology Drive, Eden Prairie, MN 55344

 

What to Expect:

Meet at noon and again at 2:45 pm for sketchbook viewing inside the main entrance on the first floor. We’ll gather just to the right of the stairway. The stairway is easily seen upon entering the mall. To orient you, Western Union is on the left of the stairs.

 

There is ample parking in the free parking lot and no fees for entrance.

 

The Asia Mall opened last year to huge crowds. It is a two story building which is a festival for the sketcher’s eye with its open architecture, décor, many restaurants and long aisles of snack food and groceries, as well as seafood market. There are several full-service restaurants as well as quick service. One of the restaurants has robot servers! Learn more about the mall here: https://www.asiamallmn.com/

 

Folding chairs and watercolors are ok as long as you are respectful of shopper's space. There is ample space for sketchers to find places to sketch.

Mark Your Calendars for our November Mid-week Event at Fort Snelling State Park!

 

 

Join other sketchers and Amy Mester, a park naturalist, at Fort Snelling State Park for an OUTDOOR Mid-Week sketch out to exercise your observation and drawing skills.

 

When: Tuesday, November 28th, 1-3pm

Where: Fort Snelling State park (101 Snelling Lake Road
St. Paul, MN 55111), Shelter A located on Picnic Island.
Directions: On Post Rd. off State Hwy. 5, just west of MSP International Airport. Follow signage to Picnic Island and meet at Shelter A.

 

NOTE: This is NOT the Fort Snelling Historic Park area. We will be sketching views of the backwater channel of the Minnesota River, the tall cottonwood trees, and wildlife.

Additionally, hear from Amy about the history and ecology specific to Fort Snelling State Park. Sketchers of all ages and skills are welcome and encouraged to join!

 

No registration required. Dress for the weather, there will be a fireplace fire at the Shelter to warm up. Daily passes will have to be purchased at the front office, the first building upon entering the park. They are $7/daily and $35/annual.
