Melting out

It has been in the 40s and 50s in the Twin Cities this week. One of the most disgusting-yet-oddly-fascinating things about the first big thaw of the year is seeing what melts out of the snow. Everything deposited between layers of snow (or left behind before the first winter storm) ends up forming a layer of concentrated crud on the diminishing snow piles. Here is a composite sketch of a few of the things I saw while walking around Nordeast.

  1. love this! I can't draw what's in my neighborhood...but there are some bad dog owners out there. We still pick up even in the snow.
